Berlusconi "Italy turned down IMF financial aid offer

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Friday that Italy had turned down an offer of financial aid from the International Monetary Fund as it "wasn't necessary". He confirmed, however, that Italy had asked for the IMF to help monitor the implementation of its economic reforms, at a mews conference to mark the end of the G20 summit in Cannes.
