Wall street closing

US stocks closed mostly flat Friday, as investors remained apprehensive about the political gridlock on the fiscal cliff. The dollar slipped against the euro, but was strong versus the yen and the pound. Light sweet crude oil for January delivery rose 84 cents to $88.91 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures fell $16.30 to $1,710.90. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 3.76, or 0.03 percent, to 13,025.58. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 0.23, or 0.02 percent, to 1,416.18. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index moved up 1.79, or 0.06 percent, to 3,010.24.
