US stocks fall over fiscal cliff fears

US stocks have finished lower following the failure of the Republican plan to avoid the "fiscal cliff". All the three major US stock indexes, the Dow, S&P and Nasdaq all dropped more than 0.9 percent. Still, market analysts say the declines of less than 1 percent suggest that investors do not believe the economy will be unduly damaged by the absence of a deal.
