US shares edge higher ahead of Yellen testimony

US stocks edged higher Monday a day ahead of new Federal Reserve chief Janet Yellen's premier testimony to Congress, with attention focused on how she views recent employment weakness. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 7.45 points (0.05 percent) at 15,801.53. The broad-based S&P 500 gained 2.80 (0.16 percent) to 1,799.82, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index rose 22.31 (0.54 percent) to 4,148.17.
