Tokyo stocks rise in early trading tracking Wall Street gains

Tokyo stocks rose in early trading on Friday following overnight gains of U.S. and European stocks.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 170.86 points, or 0.87 percent, from Thursday to 19,741.10. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 15.82 points, or 0.99 percent, at 1,607.31. Gainers were led by services, land transport and financing business issues.
