Tokyo Stocks End Slightly down Monday

Tokyo stocks ended slightly lower Monday with the Nikkei index falling for the first time in 10 trading days after falls on Wall Street late last week, but they trimmed losses amid expectations of stock buying by the Bank of Japan.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 9.55 points, or 0.05%, from Friday at 19,391.60. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 1.61 points, or 0.10%, lower at 1,549.06, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
Decliners were led by marine transportation, steel and iron and securities issues.
