Tokyo stocks end higher Thursday

 Tokyo stocks snapped a five-day losing streak to end higher Thursday on news reports that the Japanese governmental pension fund plans to pour more money into domestic shares.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 72.58 points, or 0.48%, from Wednesday at 15,232.37. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 6.83 points, or 0.55%, higher at 1,258.12.
Tokyo stocks succumbed to selling from the opening bell due to the US dollar’s weakness in the lower 102 yen zone, said Takuya Takahashi, senior strategist at Daiwa Securities Co, Nikkei reported.
