Tokyo stocks end higher on Tuesday

Tokyo stocks continued higher Tuesday, with the Nikkei Stock Average climbing 19.68 points to end the day at 14,713.25, its highest level since Sept. 27. The dollar's gradual rise against the yen supported the market. But a recent rise in the benchmark Nikkei average prompted profit-taking, limiting stocks' upward momentum, according to the (Nikkei.com) website. Investors appear to be staying on the sidelines until the announcement of US jobs data for September, which is scheduled for later in the day.
