Tokyo stocks end 0.52% lower after hitting 2-week high

Tokyo stocks ended 0.52 percent lower on Wednesday afternoon as investors locked in gains after the Nikkei index hit a 2-week high the previous trading day. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 76.71 points from Tuesday to 14,766.53. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 5.48 points, or 0.45 percent, to 1, 218.52. The turnover was 1,899.4 billion yen (about 18.59 billion U.S. dollars).
