Tokyo stocks almost flat Tuesday morning

Tokyo stocks ended 0.04 percent higher in the morning session on Tuesday. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 5.22 points, from Monday at 14,698.79. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 0.75 point, or 0.06 percent, at 1,213. 11. Gainers were led by consumer finance, metal products and construction firms while decliners included sea transport, paper and real estate issues.
