Tokyo shares closed higher Wednesday as investors here are seeking buying after a five-day losing streak.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 137.01 points, or 0. 92 percent, from Tuesday at 15,073.52.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 9.40 points, or 0.77 percent, at 1,223. 67.
Gainers were led by air transport, rubber products and precision instruments issues.
The turnover was about 2,103.0 billion yen (about 19.61 billion U.S. dollars).
