Tokyo shares close higher by break

Tokyo shares ended the morning session higher Monday with the Nikkei index hitting a seven-year high on a strong Japanese business investment data for the July- September period.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 141.24 points, or 0. 81 percent, from Friday to 17,601.09, after briefly climbing to 17, 649.02, its highest on an intraday basis since July 26, 2007.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 12.02 points, or 0.85 percent, to 1, 422.36.
Major gainers were led by air transport, precision instruments and insurance issues.
