South Korean shares open higher, trailing overnight gains on Wall Street

South Korean stocks started higher on Friday following overnight gains on Wall Street and as institutions went on to buy.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) that began trading on the plus side extended the lead and stood at 1,967.22 in the first 15 minutes of trading, up 9.18 points, or 0.47 percent, from Thursday's close.
