Singapore shares close flat

Singapore stocks finished almost flat on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up a modest 0.27 points, or 0.01 percent, to close at 3,291.35. A total of 3.89 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 93 billion Singapore dollars (1.54 billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered decliners 339 to 149, while 459 others finished unchanged. The STI index fell 20.29 points, or 0.61 percent, to close at 3, 291.08 on Monday.
