Seoul shares close lower

South Korean stocks closed lower Tuesday, with the main Korea Composite Stock Price Index retreating 11.17 points, or 0.59 percent, to close at 1,889.7. Trading volume stood at 486.9 million shares worth 3.86 trillion won (3.64 billion U.S. dollars). The South Korean currency ended at 1,089.9 won to the U.S. dollar, down 1.3 won from Monday's close.
