Saudi Stock Exchange, Tadawul's All Share Index (TASI) closed the year 2012 at 6,801.22 points, an increase by 383.49 points (or 5.98%) compared to 6,417.73 points registered at the end of 2011, the Saudi Arabian bourse said Tuesday. TASI highest level during the year 2012 was 7,930.58 points registered on April 3. The total market capitalization at the end of the year 2012 reached SR 1,400.34 Billion (US$ 373.42 Billion), an increase by 10.19% compared to the end of 2011. The total value of shares traded for the year 2012 reached SR 1,929.32 Billion (US$ 514.49 billion) compared to SR 1,098.84 Billion (US$ 293.02 Billion) for the year 2011, an increase by 75.58%. The total number of transactions executed during the year 2012 was 42.11 million compared to 25.55 million trades for the previous year, an increase by 64.81%. The total number of shares traded - historical prices and volume traded data adjusted by the bourse to account for all corporate actions during the year - for the year 2012 reached 82.54 billion compared to 48.26 billion shares traded during 2011, an increase by 71.03%. The daily average number of transactions executed during 2012 was 167,750 trades compared to 103,010 trades during the previous year, an increase by 62.84%. The daily average value of shares traded during the year 2012 was SR 7,686.53 Million (US$2.049 Billion) compared to SR 4,430.79 Million (US$1.181 Billion) noted in 2011, an increase by 73.48%. The daily average number of shares traded during the year 2012 was 328.86 Million compared to 194.61 Million shares traded in 2011, an increase by 68.99%. In term of number of transactions registered during the year 2012, the insurance sector was the most active sector with 13.04 million trades representing 30.96% of the total trades registered during the year. Petrochemical industries noted 4.48 million trades or 10.65% of the total trades. Telecommunications and Information Technology noted 3.83 million trades or 9.09% of the total trades executed during the year 2012.
