Japanese shares surge

Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose 2 per cent Tuesday after volatile trading as investors picked up cheaper stocks after recent losses. The Nikkei gained 271.94 points, or 2.05 per cent, to end at 13,533.76 after falling 3.72 per cent Monday. The broader-based Topix index was up 28.52 points, or 2.6 per cent, at 1,125.47 after losing 3.42 per cent Monday, according to a report of DPA.
