Tokyo stocks slipped Friday morning as investors locked in gains after a sizable advance in the past three trading days.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 56.68 points, or 0.34 percent, from Thursday to 16,854.37.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 9.39 points, or 0.68 percent, to 1,361.96.
