Vodafone annual profit hits £59bn after Verizon Wireless sale

Vodafone's annual net profit rocketed to £59.25 billion, boosted by the enormous sale of its stake in US joint-venture Verizon Wireless, the British mobile phone giant said on Tuesday. The company's 2013/2014 profit after taxation, equivalent to $100 billion or 73 billion euros, compared with slender net profit of just £413 million in the previous 2012/2013 financial year, Vodafone said in a results statement.
