Turkish Airline to re-hire 305 fired union workers

A union leader and the head of Turkish Airlines announced they had reached a deal that included re-hiring 305 fired union workers. Few details were released on the deal struck by Ali Kemal Tatibal, the new head of the aviation union Hava-Is, Hurriyet Daily News reported. "The signatures are written. Everything will be good for us. We will rehire everyone," said Tatl?bal, 10 days after he was elected chairman of the union. Tatibal met with Hamdi Topcu, chairman of the airline, on Dec. 19, the Daily News said. The 305 union workers were fired after protesting a legislative proposal to ban strikes and work lockouts in the aviation industry. The union began a strike on May 15. In June, the airline said it would not rehire the fired workers.
