
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a significant role as an engine of growth of the economy of nations. The growing importance of SMEs in the Kingdom of Bahrain has prompted Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry to establish the SMEs Development and Support Center. Mr. Othman Sharif Al Rayes , Treasurer and Acting CEO of BCCI stated that the aim of the Centre is capacity building of Entrepreneurs and SMEs to increase their productivity, competitiveness and to play an integral role in the economic development of the Kingdom. “Supported by Ministry of Industry & Commerce, UNIDO, Bahrain Development bank and Family Bank, the Centre will deliver various financial and non-financial services related to the new enterprise creation and enterprise growth. Through national, regional and international partnerships and networking, the Centre plans to provide the members with consultancy and advisory services, information on markets, laws and regulations, and opportunities for networking amongst SMEs and expanding exporting activities and other relevant information to be innovative and to boost productivity and competitiveness”. said Mr. Al Rayes. The SME Development and Support Centre will start operating on Wednesday 2 January 2013 on the ground floor of Bait Al Tijjar in Sanabis. BCCI encourages all members to visit the centre to benefit from the opportunity to share the partners’ experience, exchange businesses with relevant businesses and benefit from the services of the Centre.
