Sharjah Investment Development Authority
Dubai - WAM

The Sharjah Investment Development Authority (Shurooq) is set to participate in the upcoming 2015 Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2015) for the 5th time, which will be taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from the 4th to the 7th of May.

Shurooq's participation will centre on showcasing the diverse range of world-class projects that the Authority is currently developing in the emirate of Sharjah. In addition, the Shurooq delegation has scheduled meetings with representatives of leisure operators, travel agencies, and other travel professionals and entities to explore possible avenues of cooperation as well as the vast array of investment opportunities available in the Emirate's bourgeoning tourism and leisure sector.

Speaking about Shurooq's presence at this year's Arabian Travel Market, Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq, said, "ATM has truly become a ‘Gateway to the World', attracting travel professionals from across the globe, and we will be leveraging the exposure offered by this prestigious platform to promote Sharjah's vast potential as premier tourism destination. Sharjah's travel and leisure sector continues to grow rapidly and Shurooq is playing a major role in this growth process through its diverse portfolio of world-class tourism projects. We are looking forward to welcoming many new travellers to explore all that the Emirate has to offer."

Shurooq will be taking pride of place at ATM 2015 with an ultra-modern, 150 square metre, two-tiered stand that will act as a nexus for the Authority's promotion activities. Among the highlights of Shurooq's much anticipated participation in ATM 2015, will be the launch of the Authority's latest premium leisure development project, Al Noor Island, during a press conference set to take place on the second day of the exhibition.

"We are very excited to introduce Al Noor Island to the world," remarked Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal. "The project is set to become a truly unique addition to Sharjah's growing tourism offering and we expect it to generate a great deal of interest."

The Shurooq CEO went on to emphasise that the 4 main destinations of Shurooq's which include Al Qasba, Al Majaz Waterfront, Heart of Sharjah and Flag Island will also be showcased during ATM 2015 as well as the popular ‘I Love Sharjah; brand.

The Arabian Travel Market is the leading travel and tourism event in the region and has become a true global marketplace for companies right across the industry. ATM 2015 will host over 2,700 exhibitors and is set to attract more than 23,000 travel professionals from across the globe.

Shurooq's key mission is to provide facilities and incentives to help overcome obstacles facing investment activities in Sharjah, evaluate investment-related infrastructure projects, and lay down the necessary plans to complete such projects.

In recognition of its overall accomplishments, Shurooq was named The Banking Awards 2013 – and 2014 FDI Agency of the Year in the MENA region at the European's Global Banking and Finance Awards.
