Samsung Securities to downsize branches on industrywide slump

Samsung Securities Co., South Korea's top brokerage house by market capitalization, said Wednesday that it would close or consolidate its branches operating across the country, a move seen to help offset its falling profitability. Samsung Securities, the brokerage arm of the country's top conglomerate, Samsung Group, has been mapping out a plan to weather an industrywide slump, joining smaller rivals' moves to cut employees and reduce the number of branches.
