The improvement of the social situation and restructuring of some public companies were discussed at the periodical meeting of the Committee on Stabilisation and Restructuring of Enterprises with Public Participation (CAREPP). The committee, which convened Thursday under the chairmanship of outgoing Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali, approved early retirement requests for technical and economic reasons submitted by a number of employees of the "El Fouledh" company in Menzel Bourguiba and the "Société Tunisienne du Sucre" in Beja. The committee also authorised some public stakeholders to participate in the capital of the company managing the Jendouba-based industrial and technological pole. This company will be assigned the task of developing industrial zones in an area stretching over 1,000 hectares and hosting 70 industrial enterprises. The latter are expected to generate 3,000 jobs in the region. Besides, CAREPP approved of El Ghazela technological park's contribution by up to 15 MTD to the capital increase of NIDA Outsource Centre company. Set up in the El Ghazela technological park, NIDA is a platform for companies operating in outsourcing sectors, particularly business support services (BSS), the company indicates on its website. The capital increase will make it possible to carry out the third and fourth phases of a site development project for the establishment of companies specialising in ICT, along with Sungard and HP which are already operating in the area developed by NIDA. CAREPP was created under Article 24 of the law N°89-9 dated February 1, 1989. It is tasked with assessing operations of transfer, state equity exchange and merger as well as transactions of combining or division of companies in which the State has direct participation in the capital, in addition to the transfer of assets likely to constitute an independent operation unity in a firm in which the State directly holds shares in the capital.
