Qatargas
Doha - QNA

Qatargas Supply Department has successfully achieved The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) worldwide prestigious Standard Certification for its outstanding procurement policies and procedures.

Qatargas received the award from CIPS at a special ceremony held at the Qatargas Doha Head Office on Tuesday, said the company in a press release.

CIPS Corporate Certification is an independent, procurement-specific process to assess the efficiency of procurement teams working towards organisational goals. For decades, CIPS has been assessing organisations and corporates in a variety of sectors and all over the world against an acclaimed Global Standard.

Qatargas demonstrated strong control and transparency achieved through the defined policies and procedures, as well as overall governance provided by three tender committees. Strong strategic direction contributed to increased value across the supply chain, and reduced lead times in the procurement cycle which increased cost effectiveness and secured advantageous market conditions.

Qatargas is honored to receive this prestigious recognition as evidence of the continued efforts to promote world class standards and integrate best practices into its business performance. Qatargas’ Supply Department has set yet another milestone and today the team’s efforts and dedication have made possible the achievement of this significant global recognition. Qatargas is committed to maintaining and enhancing its performance to ensure the company continues to meet the highest global standards through the years to come.

On the occasion Duncan Brock, Director of Customer Relationships, CIPS, commented, "Qatargas has demonstrated that their ambitions to be the best are high and that it is a progressive company.

"What was particularly interesting was Procurement’s influence at Board level and reporting directly on achievements contributing to business goals. In this Company, Procurement and Supply Management have demonstrated how influential they are which will contribute to the success of becoming a premier organisation in the region." Qatargas was established in 1984, and pioneered the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry in Qatar. Today, Qatargas is the largest LNG producing company in the world, with an annual LNG production capacity of 42 million tonnes per annum (MTA) and is realising its vision to become the world’s premier LNG company.

The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is the world’s largest procurement and supply professional organisation. It is the worldwide centre of excellence on procurement and supply management issues. CIPS has a global community of over 110,000 in 150 different countries, including senior business people, high-ranking civil servants and leading academics.
