Qatar Chemical Company (Q-Chem) recently held its annual Townhall meeting for Qatari employees under the banner ‘Read, lead, succeed together.’ The meeting that took place at Al Gassar Resort was aimed at strengthening the company’s Qatarisation initiative. Among the attendees were Q-Chem’s senior management including group managers, department managers and all Qatari employees working in the company. General manager Ahmed Ibrahim al-Emadi opened the session by underlining the bold national strategic development goals in improving the national workforce, which have been aligned with Q-Chem’s objectives. “Qatarisation is the supporting pillar of our company. We are all committed, Qataris and non-Qataris, to empower national cadre to attain sustainability and progress,” al-Emadi said. “Q-Chem has set up a strategic manpower planning and recruitment for Qataris and has established a Qatarisation steering committee to oversee the development of qualified Qataris, empower them with skills and education, and retain them within the Q-Chem family,” he said. “Q-Chem sponsors students in several national academic institutions and offer summer training for engineering and administrative fields for undergraduate students.” During the meeting, the company prepared a number of activities to motivate efficient reading, team building and explore leadership skills. The meeting agenda included updates on important achievements in Qatarisation, safety, environment and production for 2011-12. Senior management awarded employees in three categories: outstanding performance achievers, successful graduates from Qatar University and College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q), and graduates of the TPP programme.
