Jordan News Agency and Zain on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve the skills of Petra's staff and develop the agency's English bulletin.
Under the agreement, signed by Petra's Director General Faisal Al Shboul and Chief Executive Officer of Zain Ahmad Hanandeh, Zain will continue providing support to improve the agency's English bulletin and the skills of its staff in cooperation with a US news editing agency.
Petra will also publish Zain's news and activities in line with its editing policies as well as ads on Petra's portal for the services provided by the telecom provider.
Al Shboul stressed the importance of the deal that reflects cooperation between the public and private sectors in developing the agency's work, and enhancing the efficacy of its services to keep pace with the progress in the field of media.
Petra, he added, carries Jordan's voice and message throughout the world by transmitting news and reports that shed light on the country's accomplishments in various fields.
Al Shboul voiced the agency's appreciation of Zain, which supported Petra with $55,000 over the past two years, and praised the company's efforts to develop a telecommunications center in the Kingdom.
He also valued Zain's continued support to Petra, which reflects the fruitful cooperation between national institutions in serving the country in various domains.
Hanandeh praised the agency's news coverage through highlighting the country's bright image and presenting and addressing various issues in a credible and transparent manner.
The company, he added, is committed to effectively contribute towards developing the Jordanian society by implementing initiatives covering many sectors.
