Pilots with German carrier Lufthansa will strike on Wednesday, with the stoppage targeting short and medium-haul flights, the pilots' union Cockpit said Monday.
The 24-hour industrial action is the latest blow in a long struggle over early retirement. Flights throughout Germany will be affected, Cockpit said.
However, Germanwings and Eurowings, low-cost subsidiaries of Lufthansa, will not be involved in the strike.
Pilots union Vereinigung Cockpit staged a long series of walkouts last year over management plans to change the pilots' transitional pension arrangements.
Currently, pilots can retire at 55 and receive up to 60 percent of their pay until they reach the statutory retirement age of 65.
Lufthansa wants to scrap the arrangement.
