Roughly 30,000 vehicles, mostly golf carts and buggies, were recalled Tuesday by maker E-Z-GO due to safety issues. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which announced the recall via press release early on April 22, the "steering wheel nut may not have been tightened sufficiently, reducing the driver's steering control." E-Z-GO and CPSC claimed they are only aware of one incident so far, in which a cart veered out of control and hit a curb. The driver of that cart suffered a chipped tooth. According to CPSC, the following vehicles, consisting of E-Z-GO, Cushman and Bad Boy Buggies models, are subject to recall: "E-Z-GO TXT Fleet golf cars; E-Z-GO Freedom TXT, Shuttle 2+2 TXT and Valor personal golf cars all with one bench seat and one rear-facing seat; E-Z-GO Express with two bench seats and one rear-facing seat; E-Z-GO Terrain with a cargo bed; Cushman Shuttle vehicles; and Bad Boy Buggies HD, LD, LTO, and LT Safari utility vehicles." All the vehicles were manufactured in Augusta, Georgia, by the E-Z-GO Division of Textron -- an industrial conglomerate headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island. The suspect vehicles were all sold between August 2012 and February 2013. Owners of vehicles covered in the recall can contact local dealerships to arrange for a free repair.
