
The Dubai International Airport received more than 5 million passengers in April, an increase of 18.7 percent compared with the same period of last year. April was the fifth consecutive month with more than 5 million passengers passing through Dubai International Airport or DXB, according to the state-owned managing company Dubai Airport in an e-mailed statement. Passengers from Eastern Europe landing at DXB topped the list with a plus of 56.5 percent year-on-year, followed by Asia Pacific of 30.7 percent. In 2012, some 57.6 million passengers landed in DXB, lifting the hub to the third biggest airport in the world, Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airport said, adding that figure was expected to reach 65 million in 2013.
