Delta Doha Corporation and Qatar Shell have signed a contract for ‘local SGP burner repair’ on the Pearl GTL (gas to liquid) plant at Ras Laffan Industrial City. The contract was signed by vice president for production at Pearl GTL, Stephen Johnson, and managing director of Delta Doha Corporation, Wesam Swelem. The SGP burner is a critical component in the GTL process, and the prequalification process for this contract began two years ago. After initially being chosen by Qatar Shell to provide the service, Delta Doha Corporation has signed a long-term contract after completing a one year trial period. Johnson said: “Qatar Shell is committed to working with local business partners and develop their competencies. This is part of our commitment to supporting the country’s Vision 2030. Today’s signing is the outcome of several months of hard work from Delta Doha Corporation and I am looking forward to a successful business co-operation with them.” Sheikh Sultan bin Jassim al-Thani, chairman of Delta Doha Corporation, stated: “We are trying always at Delta Doha Corporation to align our business with Qatar Vision 2030’s which has four guiding principles for a sustainable economy and growth path for Qatar’s focus on human, social, economic and environment development.” “Creating a knowledge-based economy requires dynamic businesses that can cope efficiently with the technology around us through investing in human resources and cutting edge technologies,” he added. Wesam Swelem, managing director, Delta Doha Corporation, commented: “The commitment of Qatar Shell to develop the capabilities of local partners is appreciated and serving an esteemed firm as Shell is an honor for our firm and a motivation for more improvements.” “Our team in Delta Services “DSERV” is always eager to take more technical challenges and provide cost effective solutions for our partners,” Swelem added.
