Corning completes purchase of Samsung's joint venture

Corning Inc., a U.S. specialty glass maker, said Thursday it has completed the purchase of all shares in a joint venture established with Samsung Group, South Korea's top conglomerate. Samsung Display Co. decided in October to sell its 43 percent stake in an LCD panel joint venture, Samsung Corning Precision Materials Co., for an estimated US$1.9 billion.
