Chrysler's US sales rise 14% in August

Chrysler said Tuesday its US sales of cars and trucks rose 14 percent last month, the biggest annual gain in five years for August. Chrysler sold 148,472 vehicles as sales rose for all its models, "the group's best August sales since 2007," the number-three US automaker, controlled by Italy's Fiat, said in a statement. Fiat models led the sales pace, up 34 percent, and Chrysler sales rose 25 percent. Chrysler was the first to report in Tuesday's August US sales releases.
