Shanghai GM will recall 14,953 imported cars of the Cadillac brand starting on Aug. 31 due to faulty ignition key design, China's top quality watchdog said Monday.
The recall involves Cadillac's SRX sport utility vehicles manufactured between Aug. 25, 2004 and Sept. 4, 2008, and CTS sedans made between March 23, 2004 and Aug. 21, 2012, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in the circular.
Due to defective design, the driver may touch accessories on the ignition key and lead to unexpected key rotation, posing safety hazards, the AQSIQ said.
The company will check the keys on affected vehicles and eliminate potential problems for car owners free of charge.
