Amman - Petra

Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour received on Thursday the CEO of APM Terminals, Kim Fejfer, for a briefing on progress of work at the container terminal project in Aqaba, 350 kilometers south of Amman.
During the meeting, Fejfer spoke about the progress that has been achieved in the project, noting that his company has so far invested $300 million, while noting that the expansion of the port and its docks increased its capacity to one million containers annually, up from 200,000 a few years ago. The port, he added, currently hires 800 Jordanians.
Fejfer also expressed interest to expand APM's investments in the Kingdom, mainly building a land port to ease pressure on the Gulf of Aqaba.
The prime minister, meanwhile, valued the existing partnership between Jordan and the international company, through the Aqaba Development Company.
