American Express has teamed up with Twitter to allow users to synchronize their credit cards with the micro-blogging site and take advantage of store discounts with a simple tweet. AmEx said Tuesday that clients would be able to get exclusive discounts loaded onto their cards by mentioning offers by #hashtag on the popular micro-blogging site. When the cardholder makes the purchase in question, whether in a shop or on a participating merchant's website, the credit is posted within a few days. "American Express is turning Twitter content into commerce by connecting cardmembers to merchants and delivering real world value to both," American Express Vice Chairman Ed Gilligan said. AmEx said participating merchants include fast food giant McDonald's, grocery chain Whole Foods, electronics retailer Best Buy, shoes and clothing seller Zappos.com and Swedish clothing retailer H&M. Users can sign up for the service at "sync.americanexpress.com/twitter".
