
Albania's employment increased in the second quarter of 2015, representing a 3.7-percent rise in annual terms, according to the country's National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).
"According to the findings of the Quarterly Labor Force Survey, the number of employed aged 15-64 was 1,048,908 persons in the second quarter of 2015. The number of unemployed aged 15-64 was 220,162 persons," said Gjergj Filipi, general director of INSTAT.
According to the survey, around 63.7 percent of the population between ages 15 and 64 is active in the labor market, either employed or actively looking for a job. Compared with the second quarter of the previous year, Filipi said, the number of employed people has increased by 42,601, while the number of unemployed has increased with 4,075.
"The female unemployed rate increased by 2.5 percentage points compared with the second quarter of 2014, whereas male unemployment rate fell by 2.3 percentage points," INSTAT's director said.
