Muscat - Arabstoday

Global Process Systems (GPS), a member of the Al-Jaber Group, has secured a key contract with Larsen & Toubro of India to supply Gas Sweetening and Gas Dehydration process systems required for the Lekhwair Gas Field Development Project in Oman. The contract is one of several awarded across the GPS Group recently worth a combined value of US$200m. “This represents a major milestone for both Larsen & Toubro and GPS in winning this key project from Petroleum Development Oman, one of the major national oil companies in the region," said GPS group CEO Ian Prescott said. "We are delighted to have achieved this success with such a prestigious client in what is widely regarded as a very competitive market. We welcome the opportunity to work with Larsen & Toubro, one of the world leaders in the execution of Oil & Gas EP and EPC contracts.” Work has already commenced at the GPS office in Dubai, UAE, and will be carried out on a fast-track schedule. The Lekhwair project is intended to enhance the supply of gas to fulfil growing demand in Oman. Lekhwair is located approximately 110 km from the government gas plant in Yibal and its associated network. The overall project will comprise a single train for exporting treated gas to the Yibal Gas Plant. The facility includes the Main Gas Treatment plant consisting of Gas Desulfurisation and Gas Dehydration Units with the required utilities and supporting facilities, as well as flow lines, well pad piping, remote manifold station, and liquid and gas export pipelines. GPS Dubai will deploy its comprehensive in-house engineering skills and considerable track record in the provision of onshore and offshore process modules to successfully complete the project. The Gas Dehydration and Gas Sweetening systems will be manufactured at GPS’ major fabrication facilities in Abu Dhabi.
