Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG) recently held its second Quarterly Meeting at an event hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The meeting was followed by a lunch for members to celebrate the organisation's fifth anniversary. The ADSG Quarterly Meeting forms part of a series of events and activities for members to share best practice, raise awareness about sustainability and promote the adoption of sustainability management practices. Huda Al Houqani, ADSG Director, highlighted key points during the session, saying, "Our second quarterly meeting for 2013 coincides with ADSG's fifth anniversary and celebrates the Group members' progress where they are leading the way in stakeholder engagement, defining critical sustainability issues and promoting transparency through increased sustainability reporting. We are proud to meet at the quarterly meeting and to be in a position to share members' experiences." She praised ADNEC for hosting the Group's event. Speaking at the meeting, Basima Al Mesbahi, Senior Analyst - Research '&' Advocacy at Emirates Foundation for Youth Development said, "I've been a student at ADSG for one year, the ADSG helped us to produce our first sustainability report without consultants' support. We see sustainability as a day to day way of working. The report is a comprehensive picture of how the Emirates Foundation does business in a responsible way". While discussing sustainability reporting, Laith Tahboub, Operations Manager at Aramex, said, "Being part of the ADSG is one of the channels for Aramex to communicate on sustainability. We have sustainability initiatives globally. Sustainability is something you have to live and practice as part of your business. It drives efficiency which makes business sense." WAM/AM/CM
