The US House of Representatives has passed the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 269 to 151 on Friday despite US President Barack Obama threatening to veto the bill earlier in the week.
"On the vote the yeas are 269, the nays are 151, the bill is passed without objection," the presiding clerk announced on Friday.
The US NDAA appropriates a total of $611.8 billion, equivalent to President Obama's 2016 fiscal year request.
The Obama administration has expressed strong objection to the bill, arguing that it fails to authorize sufficient funding for the US military's priorities and instead uses funds from the Overseas Operations.
