
Minister of Transport Saad el Gioushy and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr on Wednesday signed an agreement to jointly manufacture 700 train carriages to be operated on the developed third class trains in cooperation with the Russian side.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Chairman of the Egyptian Railway Authority Ahmed Hamed and Russian Ambassador in Cairo Sergei Kerbachenko.
In statements on Wednesday, Gioushy said signing this agreement is an important step for the development of relations between Egypt and Russia in the field of joint manufacture in order to rebuild the Egyptian railway, thanking the honest cooperation of the Russia side in this aspect.
He made it clear that Egyptian factories will carry out the manufacturing of the carriages with the use of local and Russian components and to encourage the local production and capitalize on the Russian expertise in the railway development.
