The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and China reached 3 billion dollars in the first quarter of 2015, said Ayman Ali Osman, Head of Economic and Commercial Office in Beijing.
In statements to MENA correspondent, Osman said the Egyptian exports during this period has seen a marked decline by 21.7% hitting 328 million dollars compared to 2014.
Bucking the trend, the Egyptian imports from China have witnessed a significant increase by 30% to hit 2.7 billion dollars compared to the same period last year, Osman said.
He noted that Egypt's petroleum exports to China have achieved a limited increase to hit 239 million dollars, compared to 228 million dollars during the same period last year.
The most important petroleum products include petroleum oils, oils from minerals and oil gases and gaseous hydrocarbons, he said.
In the meantime, the non-oil exports decreased by 53% compared to last year, Osman said.
The main non-oil exports are marble, citrus fruits, cotton and iron and copper as raw materials, he added.
The Egyptian diplomat expects that Egyptian imports from China will continue to grow due to the great economic growth rates achieved by China, he added.
