
The economic authority of the Suez Canal area signed Thursday a cooperation protocol between Port Said Harbor and Chinese Qingdao Port.
The protocol aims at benefiting from the initiative of establishing the economic Silk Road, boosting cooperation in the domains of planning, administrating and operating ports, exchanging expertise and creating a mechanism for sharing information and technology in the harbors field, according to a statement by the Suez Canal Area.
The protocol was inked by Deputy Head of the Commission Abdel Qader Darwish and chairman of the Chinese port.
The protocol is an outcome of the recent visit of the Chinese President Xi Jinping to Egypt which resulted in signing number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoU) in many domains to increase the Chinese investments in the Arab country, enhance the joint economic relations and flourish the Egyptian economy, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Port Said Harbor is one of the six ports affiliated to the economic commission for the Suez Canal Area.
