Twenty-three Polish agricultural and food companies will take part in this year's Food Expo fair in Hong Kong which starts on August 14, deputy head of Agricultural Market Agency (ARR) Lucjan Zwolak said on Monday.
Poland's government and Polish entrepreneurs have been looking for new markets and China is a very promising export destination, Lucjan Zwolak said.
Poland's trade with Hong Kong has stayed at 90 million euros for three years. Hong Kong is a transfer hub for food products as 90 percent of them are re-exported, according to Maciej Wilk, head of the Warsaw office of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
"Eight companies will go with the Agency and three of them will offer apples, fresh fruit and apple juice," the ARR deputy head explained. The others will try to sell sweets and milk products.
Lucjan Zwolak announced that over the next three years industry organisations are going to promote their products in China under EU programmes promoting meat, fruit and milk.
Poland exports 70 million euros worth of food products to Hong Kong annually. Poultry, meat and meat products make up 70 percent of the shipments.
