Manila - XINHUA

The Philippines and Mexico forged on Sunday a new and expanded intellectual property (IP) cooperation agreement that aims to assist in growing trade and transfer of innovation between the two countries.

The signing of the IP agreement took place on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation IP Rights Experts' Group (APEC-IPEG) meeting in the central city of Cebu.

Over 40 IP experts and policy makers are attending the APEC- IPEG meeting.

Allan Gepty, deputy director general of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), said the agreement builds on the technical collaboration agreement signed by the Philippines and Mexico in September 2013 in Geneva, Switzerland.
