Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)
Vienna - KUNA

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has called on Austria to pay more towards development aid.
According to the head of the OECD development committee, Eric Solheim, Austria was far below the average among Western countries, and did not fulfil the goals it had set for itself. Solheim was speaking in Vienna on Thursday.
According to figures from 2013, Austria's contribution to the poorest countries was around 0.28 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).
Industrialised countries, including Austria, had however promised to fulfil the UN development goal of contributing at least 0.7 percent of their GDPs.
There were countries with "much bigger economic problems" than Austria which had managed to reach the goal, Solheim said.
