Russia’s Culture Ministry turned out to be ready for economic hardships, Minister Vladimir Medinsky told TASS on Saturday.
There will be no many “frozen” restoration and construction projects, he said.
“It turned out that we’re preparing for this (the economic crisis). Most of our expenses are aimed at the construction and the restoration. Two years ago we changed the principle for conducting restoration and construction works,” Medinsky said.
Previously, the ministry provided financial support for the great number of restoration projects by “distributing money thinly”. Projects have long been implemented and the prices for them are permanently adjusted, he said.
“Now we’ve turned into another principle in our work - strictly on the turnkey basis with the fixed budget without increasing prices. It allowed us to complete many projects, as well as construction projects. It is necessary to end the projects that have dragged on for years before to start other macroprojects. We’re completing them,” Medinsky said.
