
Japan has committed over one million USD for grassroots projects in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian News Agency reported Thursday.
The grant for 11 development projects was signed by Japan's ambassador to Ethiopia, Kazuhiro Suzuki.
Under the grant, three vocational training centers and five schools will be expanded; a maternity center will be furnished with ultrasound, delivery beds, and necessary medical equipment; and one ICT center with 50 computers provided, it was learned. Facilities for clean water will also be constructed and 150 ha of land irrigated.
Following the signing ceremony, Suzuki emphasized that Japan will continue to contribute to the improvement of child education for poor families and promote women's active role in the economy, according to the press release of the embassy.
