Europe must encourage economic growth, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said on Thursday.
Speaking at the Asia-Europe Summit meeting in Milan, Italy, Renzi said that stimulus was crucial to economic recovery.
"We have cancelled the word 'growth' for years to focus on fiscal discipline, but we cannot exit this crisis without investments," Renzi commented.
Renzi said the need to stimulate growth will be the main agenda of G20 Leaders' Summit to be held in November in Australia.
Leading politicians met in Milan for the 10th Summit Meeting against a backdrop of declining stockmarkets and clear signs that the economic recovery is stalling across much of Europe and Asia.
