
Indonesia and Myanmar are seeking cooperation in various sectors mainly in mining, construction and transportation, according to the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) Wednesday.
A business meeting between Indonesia and Myanmar will be held at UMFCCI on Thursday aiming at enhancing bilateral trade and investment.
Led by the deputy minister of Indonesian State-owned enterprise, 25 Indonesian companies will discuss with their Myanmar counterparts in such sectors as mining, construction, cement, oil and gas as well as banking.
Indonesian investment in Myanmar amounted to 241.497 million U. S. dollars in 12 projects as of November 2014, accounting for 0.48 percent of the total foreign investments, according to official statistics.
Bilateral trade reached 498.86 million U.S. dollars in the fiscal year 2013-2014, of which Myanmar's export to Indonesia accounted for 60.04 million U.S. dollars while its import from the East Asian country stood at 438.82 million U.S. dollars.
